Service to HPS and Community

Kurt VanderSchuur is a sixth-generation Dutch immigrant and was born and raised in Hudsonville. Kurt has been active in the Hudsonville community his entire life and was a recent member of the Hudsonville Education Foundation board working to serve the Hudsonville Public School district’s students and faculty.

His passion for young people led him to serve on the Eastern Ottawa County Young Life Finance Committee, raising funds for youth programs in Ottawa County. Kurt has been active in his church, working with youth groups and leading efforts such as the building of a center to house the WyldLife and Young Life programs which serve Hudsonville’s youth.

His career began by tending his family’s farm, going to market, and working in the fields and greenhouses. He leveraged the sales skills he learned and marketing classes during his undergraduate studies to create a career at Haworth, which included several marketing roles. Kurt is currently the Global Brand Director, leading the strategic alignment of the Haworth brand across sectors and among its subsidiaries. Kurt builds relationships around the world with the architecture and design community, as well as Haworth customers and dealers. With more than thirty years in the industry and experience in all facets of the business, Kurt serves as a conduit for connecting the brand, marketing, and design functions of the organization.

Kurt is a graduate of Hudsonville High School and holds a degree in Marketing from Davenport University and a Master of Business Administration from Western Michigan University. He has completed project management training at the University of Colorado and studied at the Center for Creative Studies in Tampa, Florida. Kurt is a member of the American Institute of Architects and the International Interior Design Association. He is a world traveler, an avid sports enthusiast, a gardener and an accomplished concert pianist who enjoys spending time with family and friends.
