Hudsonville Students Travel to Ohio to Watch Eclipse Equipped with Specialized Binoculars Thanks to Foundation Grant

Ninety astronomy/geology students traveled to Cleveland, Ohio on April 8, 2024, to witness the total solar eclipse in its direct path. Wood TV 8 covered the experience

Thanks to Hudsonville Education Foundation donors, a teacher grant awarded to Mr. Chris Bolhuis, purchased thirty-six pairs of special high-powered, solar-specific sun-viewing binoculars for the students to share for this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!

Because of this grant, students had more than regular viewing glasses to share among themselves for the 4.5-minute total solar event. The telescope in the photographs was previously purchased with the financial support of the Hudsonville Education Foundation made possible by donors.

Students partnered up and saw the sun and the moon cross paths with amazing detail and definition with the new binoculars. A learning experience they will never forget.

Thank you donors for making this possible! The Hudsonville Education Foundation is pleased to contribute to the amazing work done by educators at Hudsonville Public Schools. Our students are worth investing in and these tools will be used in Mr. Bolhuis' classroom year-round for generations to come.
